Oscar Muñiz, DMD, MD, is a board-certified, dual-degree oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Oral Facial Surgery Specialists at The Woodlands. At the practice in The Woodlands, Texas, he specializes in facial cosmetic surgery and minimally invasive facial procedures such as Botox® and facial fillers.
Dr. Muñiz graduated from the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine in 1994. He then earned a medical degree from the Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine in 1998. He completed his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery and a one-year internship in general surgery at Parkland Hospital, affiliated with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Afterward, he completed a fellowship in facial cosmetic surgery from the Willowbend Cosmetic Surgery Center. He was trained by world-renowned maxillofacial surgeons Dr. Edward Ellis, Dr. Douglas Sinn, Dr. John Paul Stella, and Dr. RV Walker.
He has lectured in Puerto Rico and the United States. While in Puerto Rico, Dr. Muñiz taught fourth-year dental students and students who were interested in the field of dentistry. He is an active member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Muñiz has published important articles in the field of oral surgery, including “Treatment considerations for the comminuted mandibular fractures.”
Dr. Muñiz has been a diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery since 2006. He also enjoys sharing his medical and dental knowledge by helping organize health fairs that reach children and adults who have limited access to health care.
